How to Set Up Your Ideal Client Profile (ICP) with AI Filters

Fluum Connect now uses AI-powered filters to define your ideal client profile. Instead of building a static ICP from scratch, you describe what you’re looking for in plain language and the AI generates a set of filters you can review, edit, and refine.

How it works

When you set up your ICP, you type a short description of the type of people you want to meet. For example: “CTOs and heads of engineering at fintech companies in the UK and Germany.”

Fluum’s AI reads your description and generates four types of filters:

Role — The job titles and functions you want to target. Examples: CTO, Head of Procurement, VP Sales.

Industry — The sectors your ideal clients operate in. Examples: Financial Services, SaaS, Manufacturing.

Location — The countries where your prospects are based. Fluum uses a fixed list of countries, so you select from available options.

Summary — A short description of the type of person or business you’re looking for. The AI uses this to run deeper matching against prospect profiles in the Fluum network.

Editing your filters

After the AI generates your filters, you have full control. You can add new entries to any filter category, remove entries that are not relevant, and add custom entries that were not in the original AI suggestions.

Your filters are not locked after setup. You can return to Settings and update your ICP at any time.

How matching works with your filters

Fluum uses your filters to find the best prospects in its network. The matching process works in layers. First, Fluum looks for profiles that match across all your filter categories (role, industry, location). Then it scores those matches by how closely the prospect’s role and industry align with your filters. Finally, it runs a deeper comparison using the summary field and the prospect’s full profile to surface the most relevant opportunities.

This layered approach means your top matches are people who fit your filters on multiple dimensions, not on a single keyword alone.

Where to find your ICP settings

Open your Fluum Connect dashboard, go to Settings, and select ICP. Your current filters are displayed there. You can edit them at any time, and changes take effect on your next batch of daily matches.

Tips for better matches

Be specific with your description. “Decision-makers at large companies” will generate broad filters. “Heads of procurement at manufacturing companies in France and Germany with 500+ employees” gives the AI much more to work with.

Start with 2-3 roles and 1-2 industries. You can always expand later by purchasing additional credits or seats once you see which matches are converting.

Review and refine your filters after your first week. If certain matches are not relevant, adjust the role or industry filters and check if your summary still reflects what you’re offering.
