Tips at Checkout: How Clients Can Leave Extra Appreciation

Grow and Pro members can now enable Tips at checkout, allowing clients to add an optional amount to show appreciation. When activated, the tip appears as a separate line in the checkout summary, receipts, and reports.

What Tips Do

  • Let clients add a tip or donation during checkout.
  • Display the tip as a separate line item in the order summary.
  • If “Charge fees on customer” is turned on, those fees also apply to the tip.
  • Use the same currency as the listing.
  • Automatically appear in receipts, emails, and statements.

Who Can Use It

Available for Grow and Pro members.

Tips are managed at the listing level, so each listing can have its own tipping setting.

How to Enable Tips

  1. Open your Listing.
  2. Under “Price,” toggle “Accept Tips” on.
  3. Save your changes.

Once activated, every checkout for that listing will include a Tips section.

How Tips Appear at Checkout

  • Clients will see a Tip section with preset amounts in the listing’s currency.
  • The selected tip will appear as a new line item in the checkout summary.
  • If “Charge fees on customer” is on, those fees are applied to the service and tip total.

Example:

Service: $60

Tip: $6

Total: $66 (plus fees if applicable)

Emails and Receipts

Client and provider emails automatically include the tip amount.

Tips are tracked in your sales data and reports for full transparency.

Reporting

Tips appear as a separate line in your Statement of Orders export, so you and your accountant can easily identify them.

Good Practices

  • Add a note such as “Tips are optional and appreciated” to your listing.
  • Keep suggested tip amounts small to encourage checkout completion.
  • Check local tax regulations to see how tips should be reported.
